John Speed FCA FCIE (Managing Director)

John qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992, leaving Arthur Andersen in 2000 to establish JS2 with a former colleague.

Since 2000 John has developed and led a specialist team on a vast array of projects, including acting as an interim finance director, developing working capital/cash flow forecasting models, providing training to client staff and trustees and acting as client director for a portfolio of clients where JS2 provides the outsourced finance team.

John has worked with over 500 not for profits, ranging from small local start-up charities to large multi-national campaigning and development organisations. The driving force behind JS2’s success is John’s personal ethos, which is to provide professional, quality support and advice in an approachable manner, which is geared appropriately to the audience, while, above all else, maintaining excellent client service.

Outside of work he is an avid F1 fan, loves cars in general and enjoys travelling. He has two daughters, one a qualified vet and this explains his growing family of dogs and cats.


Caroline Shrubb ACA (Senior Client Manager)

Caroline has been a member of the JS2 team since 2007. She trained at JS2 and has worked her way up to be a Senior Client Manager and a qualified Chartered Accountant. Her portfolio consists of a wide array of clients, varying from membership organisations to charities that give front line care to beneficiaries. Each client brings their own unique challenges, requiring an individual, personal approach, alongside a wide variety of skills to assist them. Caroline supplements her technical knowledge by being truly passionate about her clients; she keeps up with their day-to-day activities on social media to have the best possible knowledge of their work.

Outside of work Caroline is a keen equestrian, regularly competing with her local Riding Club and British Dressage Quest Team. She is also a Trustee for a Mindfulness and SEN charity and has a key role in her local Riding Club committee.


Mike Godfree ACA (Senior Client Manager)

Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004 and has over 22 years’ experience in outsourced accountancy, he joined JS2 in September 2017 from RSM (formerly Baker Tilly).  Mike is a Senior Client Manager meaning alongside the portfolio of clients he works with which include a range of direct delivery charities and membership organisations, he works alongside John and Caroline to help maintain the high standards of client service and excellent training opportunities that JS2 has a reputation for.  He enjoys really getting to know his clients and understanding what is important to them and prides himself in always being approachable to clients and staff.

Outside of JS2 Mike has two sons and some unusual pets including a Giant African land snail and a Gecko.  He is also a FA qualified football coach, managing a team that plays and trains regularly and also acts as the age group representative at the completely volunteer run club.


Jo Anstey White FCA (Client Manager)

Jo qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) and worked with them for many years.  After a career break for children, Jo worked in industry and then mainly in the education sector in a number of roles broadening her skills and knowledge in the not for profit sector.  Jo joined JS2 in September 2023.

Mark Bicknell

Mark joined JS2 in 2016, shortly after completing his A levels. He has since completed his AAT and qualified as a chartered accountant in February 2025. Mark enjoys sports, mainly football, supporting Chelsea. Mark grew up swimming, winning 2 England masters nationals gold medals but has recently swapped his goggles for golf clubs.


Evan Carter

Evan began his career at JS2 in 2019 and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He now has over 7 years experience in the charity and not for profit accountancy sector. In his spare time, Evan enjoys watching football and follows his team, Brighton & Hove Albion, across the country when he can. 


Rebecca Harper

Becky joined JS2 in June 2015. She qualified in 2006 with Baker Tilly before developing her finance experience in the retail sector at Liberty. Outside of work, she enjoys a busy family life with her two football-loving boys and a lively puppy.


Cameron McLean

Cameron joined JS2 fresh out of university in 2020 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in January 2025. He is a scratch golfer and so funds his addiction by working hard at the office.
